Rumble in the Everglades

The fight between the University of Miami and Florida International was all a big misunderstanding. By misunderstanding I simply mean that most people don’t understand why this happened in the first place. Let me inform you.

It all started about a week ago when one of the Canes noticed one of the Panthers in the Canes’ territory. He immediately rushed to tell the leader of the Canes about this obvious violation of the unspoken Florida turf rules. As soon as the leader was notified, he rallied the “teammates.” At this meeting it was decided that there would not be immediate retaliation. Sadly, the teammates put down their shanks and lead pipes…to save for another day. The Canes sent word to the Panthers that the rumble was to happen on Saturday night.

The night of the rumble came. Coincidentally, that same night the Canes and Panthers would be playing a football game. The public nature of the fight was slightly worrisome but these guys were tough, real tough, and they couldn’t let anyone get away with trespassing on their turf. Not no one, not nohow. Since weapons would be tough to hide, both sides decided only to use helmets and cleats. In the end, these proved to be just as effective.

The rumble went down as planned and man was it rough. Those guys showed just how tough they were.

As a side note, it was reported that Pony Boy came into both locker rooms before the “game” to give a pep talk. Looks like it worked.
